Your U.S. or Canadian Consulate
in Puerto Vallarta can assist in passport and immigration
problems, and help in times of serious emergencies here
or ‘back home’.
They have VERY limited ability
to assist should you find yourself in serious trouble with
the law! The law in Mexico is based on Napoleonic Code,
which basically says you are guilty until proven otherwise.
Best Advice: Do NOT get into trouble with the law in Puerto
Vallarta!
Canadian Consulate:
Located on Puerto Vallarta's "main street" in the hotel zone. Upstairs in the Peninsula shopping center, and easily visible from the street (just look for your red and white maple leaf).
Phone 293-0098 or 293-0099, open 9am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday.
After-hours call (toll free) 01-800 706-2900.
United States Consulate:
NEW LOCATION. Apparently the U.S. Consulate Officer found it easer to work closer to HER home (rather than close to her "clients"), so the new location is all the way out in Nuevo Vallarta. You'll find it on the second floor of Paradise Plaza (the shopping mall adjacent to the Paradise Village resort).Call for directions.
Open 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday (except U.S.
holidays and the last Thrusday of each month)
Phone 222-0069 or 223-0074; after-hours call the Guadalajara
consulate offices (long distance) by dialing 01-333-268-2145
